Roles are being defined, and teams are taking shape as five weeks in the NFL have come and gone. Former Buckeyes exploded on offense this week, and “Zone 6” is proving Ohio State’s case for Wide Receiver U.
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers’ season has been a story of late-game heroics, and this weekend was no exception as Chase McLaughlin hit a walk-off field goal to defeat the Seattle Seahawks. Emeka Egbuka has played a central role in the team’s success and continued his campaign for Offensive Rookie of the Year with another stellar performance. Egbuka caught 7 passes for 163 yards and 1 touchdown.
Seahawks wideout Jaxon Smith-Njigba was superb despite the loss, catching 8 passes for 132 yards and 1 touchdown. Smith-Njigba has been excellent to start the season and sits in second place for total receiving yards this season with 534, while Emeka Egbuka places fourth with 445.
The Houston Texans are starting to find their footing in this young season as they routed the Baltimore Ravens by a score of 44-10. The offensive explosion came at the hands of former Ohio State star CJ Stroud. Stroud was superb in the win, throwing for 4 touchdowns and 244 yards while completing 23-27 passes.
The Cleveland Browns‘ matchup with the Minnesota Vikings ended in a heartbreaking 21-17 loss. Cleveland’s offensive woes have plagued them throughout the season, but it appears they have found a bright spot for the future. Quinshon Judkins has been excellent after missing week one and ranks second in rushing yards among rookies with 347. Judkins had a solid showing against Minnesota, rushing for 110 yards on 23 attempts.
The New Orleans Saints finally found themselves in the win column at 1-4 after defeating the New York Giants by a score of 26-14. Pete Werner played a key role on the defensive side of the ball, converting 11 total tackles. Chris Olave played a central role in the offense, catching 7 passes for 59 total yards.
The New York Jets‘ 2025 season has gone about as bad as it can get. The Jets fell to a concerning 0-5 after the 37-22 loss against the Dallas Cowboys. Despite the loss, a few former Buckeyes stood out. Justin Fields completed 32-46 passes for 283 yards and 2 touchdowns. Garrett Wilson caught 6 of those passes for 71 yards and a touchdown. Jeremy Ruckert rounded out the Buckeye trio with 4 receptions for 28 yards.
The high school football season is heating up, and the stakes are getting higher as teams battle for a chance to win it all.
