The 2025 NFL preseason has concluded. Many former Ohio State Buckeyes had the chance to put themselves on full display and will be fighting for a roster spot as teams begin to cut down their roster. A few former Buckeyes showed very impressive play and stood out from the rest.
The only problem with TreVeyon Henderson’s preseason campaign is that it was too short. Henderson only carried the ball five times but averaged 7.6 yards per carry along with a touchdown. Henderson also returned a kickoff for a 100-yard touchdown and caught 3 passes for 12 yards. Henderson has the ability to block in pass protection at an elite level and his versatility could be a huge benefit for the New England Patriots this season.
Jordan Hancock was held out of the Bills’ final preseason game against the Buccaneers due to a shoulder injury, but he has thrived in the opportunities given to him. The 5th-round pick played primarily at cornerback for Ohio State but has made the transition to safety. Hancock posted a PFF grade of 75.3 in two games with the Bills. While Hancock is not being considered for a starting role, his play as a reserve should make an impact on the Bills’ defense this season.
First-round pick Josh Simmons has been phenomenal this preseason. The former Ohio State offensive tackle did not allow a single pressure in 3 games with the Kansas City Chiefs and posted a pass-blocking grade of 84.1 according to PFF. Simmons will compete for the starting job at left tackle and should play a big role in getting Kansas City back to the Super Bowl in 2025.
Carolina Panthers rookie safety Lathan Ransom capped off his preseason with an interception off of Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Mason Rudolph. Ransom has had a very nice preseason campaign, racking up 10 tackles, 1 interception, and one pass deflection. Ransom’s physicality and toughness will be critical for the Panthers defense and he could play himself into a starting role early into the season.
When you look at the most recent run of defensive ends that have been excellent imports in the NFL from Penn State, they have a claim for being “EDGE U.” Newly acquired defensive end by the Green Bay Packers, Micah Parsons, is considered a franchise cornerstone in the NFL. The New York Giants made Abdul […]

Head coach Ryan Day’s legacy at Ohio State now has a firm foundation, but it was carefully developed brick by brick. He wasn’t “born on third” as some may want you to believe; he’s earned the quick ascent, defined by both mountain tops and valleys of extreme emotions. His 70-10 record, national championship, and academic […]

A Tale of Two Big Ten Legends When Iowa’s Kirk Ferentz notched his 205th career win, he didn’t just add another number to the win column — he tied the legendary Woody Hayes for the most victories by a head coach in Big Ten history. It was a quietly monumental moment that bridged two vastly […]
