Week two of preseason football has concluded. Many Ohio State alumni had the chance to prove to the NFL world what they can do. But a few names in particular caught the eyes of coaches, fans, and the NFL as a whole
Patriots rookie running back TreVeyon Henderson made waves in his first bit of NFL action when he received the opening kickoff and returned it 100 yards for a touchdown. Henderson had one carry for 18 yards to along with 3 receptions for 12 yards.
The Indianapolis Colts added a big piece to its defensive line when they selected Ohio State DE JT Tuimoloau in the first round of the 2025 draft. Tuimoloau made his preseason debut on Thursday and put on a show. Tuimoloau finished the game with one sack, two tackles for loss, and a pass deflection. Despite going down with an injury in the fourth quarter, Tuimoloau is expected to be ready for week 3 of preseason.
Chiefs offensive lineman Josh Simmons has been making waves since he was drafted. Simmons played 11 snaps in his preseason debut on Saturday and allowed zero sacks. Simmons has been a standout in practice and has a chance to compete for the starting job at left tackle. When asked about his play, Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes added, “He has the chance to be one of the best there is at the left tackle position.”
Jordan Hancock made his Bills preseason debut and performed in a big way. While Hancock did not fill up the box score, it was his play in coverage that really stood out. Bills Head Coach Sean McDermott praised Hancock’s versatility and said he could see time at Nickel and safety. Hancock finished the game with three tackles.
