FCS member Southeastern Louisiana will invade Death Valley on Saturday. The Lions are 2-1 on the season, but are 0-2 against the LSU Tigers (3-0). Southeastern Louisiana is coming off back-to-back wins and have scored 101 points in those victories.
LSU is basking in the glow of a 20-10 win over the Florida Gators and the defensive destruction of Gators quarterback DJ Lagway (5 INTs vs. LSU).

The Lions have platooned at QB, with Carson Camp (442 yards, three TDs) and Kyle Lowe (233 yards passing, three TDs; 157 yards rushing, three TDs). Lowe leads the team in rushing.
Wide receiver Jaylon Domingeaux leads the receiving corp. with 10 catches, 152 yards and three TDs. The Lions average 33 points per game offensively.
On defense, the Lions allow 3.7 yards per rush and 17 points per game. K.K. Reno leads this unit with 24 tackles, three tackles for loss and one fumble recovery.
Quarterback Garrett Nussmeier has been playing with a torso injury, but will play on Saturday. According to tigerdroppings.com on the weekly SEC Coaches Teleconference, LSU head coach Brian Kelly said this about Nussmeier’s injury and his status,
“I think he needs to play, and Garrett wants to play; he’s capable of playing,” Kelly said.
“The torso injury slowed him up, and it slowed up, in some instances, the development of the offense, too, because we needed to be very careful with him. We knew we had two very difficult games with Clemson on the road and a charged-up Florida team.”
“We dialed back practice, and we dialed back what we were doing to make sure that we protected him. But he’s now on the other side of it because we were able to do that. This week is an opportunity for him. He’s doing some things in practice that he hasn’t done in the last month. So, we’re pretty excited about what he can do this weekend.”
On the season, Nussmeier has thrown for 689 yards and just three TD passes with two INTs. Against Florida last Saturday, Nussmeier completed 55.6 percent of his passes and one touchdown. The offense was 4 of 14 on third down against the Gators.
The top LSU receivers/targets are:
LSU’s defense is loaded and talented enough to win a national championship. Their stat line looks like this:
Linebacker Dahvon Keys leads the team with 26 tackles. Safety Dashawn Spears has two INTs (one returned for TD), both against Florida. For his efforts, Spears earned SEC Defensive Player of the Week. CB Mansoor Delane has four PBUs, one INT and nine tackles.
Interestingly enough, there are no betting odds posted on this game. With that said, LSU should win this game handily. With the offensive woes of the Tigers, who knows what the score will be.
LSU has an opportunity to really open up the playbook and score some points against FCS-member Southeastern Louisiana. Can the Tigers break the elusive 30- point mark for the first time this season? We shall see.
