The Buckeyes are keeping it in the family with the addition of 2027 3-star athlete Angelo Smith, according to Rivals. Angelo Smith is the brother of Ohio State star wide receiver Jeremiah Smith. Smith held offers from other schools including Miami, Toledo, Ohio State, Georgia State, and Oklahoma State.
Angelo Smith snaps what has been a tough stretch for the Buckeyes on the recruiting trail. He is the Buckeyes’ first commitment since wide receiver Quay Guilford committed four months ago. The Buckeyes offered Angelo Smith a scholarship after an impressive camp in June. Now, Smith decides to follow in his brother’s footsteps.
Angelo Smith attends Chaminade-Madonna High School in Florida where he competes in football and track and field. Smith primarily plays safety. He added 40 tackles in his sophomore season. He also broke up 11 passes and made 3 interceptions according to MaxPreps. Angelo Smith was an important part of Chaminade-Madonna’s championship run. He should continue to provide the spark needed on the defensive side of the ball. This will help to make another run at the state title in 2025.
Angelo Smith is off to a solid start in his junior season. In 3 games, Smith has 18 total tackles. He has nine solo tackles, one interception, and two passes defended this season.
Angelo Smith is now the third recruit in the class of 2027 to commit to Ohio State. He joins 4-star quarterback Brady Edmunds and 4-star athlete Jamier Brown. Smith is ranked as the No. 35 recruit in the state of Florida and the no. 32 overall safety, according to 247Sports. The Ohio State Buckeyes 2027 recruiting class currently comes in at No. 8 among the rest of college football. The Buckeyes should continue to see recruits come their way as the success continues on the field.

For comparison, Ohio State QB Julian Sayin had 169 yards passing in the first quarter alone. The No. 1 Buckeyes (7-0, 4-0) came […]
The Buckeyes are hot on the recruiting trail as 2028 5-star defensive lineman Jameer Whyce has committed to Ohio State, according to ON3 Insider Hayes Fawcett. Whyce held offers from 13 other schools, including Maryland, Illinois, and Missouri. Whyce is the No. 5 defensive lineman in the class of 2028. Whyce comes from a family […]
