The Buckeyes are hot on the recruiting trail as 2028 5-star defensive lineman Jameer Whyce has committed to Ohio State, according to ON3 Insider Hayes Fawcett. Whyce held offers from 13 other schools, including Maryland, Illinois, and Missouri. Whyce is the No. 5 defensive lineman in the class of 2028.
Whyce comes from a family of football players. Whyce’s father, Jamaal Whyce, played his football at Marshall on the offensive line. Jameer’s brother, Jamaal, also played at Marshall before transferring to South Carolina. Jameer’s older brother, Jamarcus, is a Purdue commit.
A Dayton native, Whyce plays his high school football for Trotwood-Madison, where he finished his freshman season with 4 sacks. Standing 6-4 and weighing 270 lbs, Whyce uses his size and strength to his advantage. Whyce possesses all the physical tools needed to be successful at the next level and will continue to develop over the next three years.
Ryan Day and his staff have been red-hot recently, securing 3 commitments in as many days. The Buckeyes currently sit in 9th place in the 2026 recruiting rankings. Whyce is the second recruit in the class of 2028 to choose the Buckeyes, joining 4-star running back Elijah Newman-Hall.
Buckeyes defensive line coach Larry Johnson has garnered the respect of his peers and his foes for his ability to develop talent that comes his way. Johnson added to his impressive list of NFL draft picks when Tyleik Williams and J.T. Tuimoloau were selected in the first two rounds of this past year’s draft. Ty Hamilton and Jack Sawyer were also selected. The defensive line was a topic of discussion this offseason due to these key departures. Still, players such as Caden Curry and Kayden McDonald have risen to the occasion and continue to prove why Larry Johnson is the best in the business.

The high school football season is heating up, and the stakes are getting higher as teams battle for a chance to win it all. Several future Buckeyes are putting it all on the line to keep their playoff hopes alive for another week. The Southlake Carroll Dragons improved to a perfect 8-0 record on Friday […]

The Good Northwestern’s Train Rolls On Northwestern is 5–2. That’s not a typo. It’s not a fever dream. It’s not a glitch in the standings. The Wildcats — who started this season under a cloud of low expectations and low preseason rankings — just shut out Purdue 19–0 and now sit one win away from […]

34-0 was the result, but even the shutout score doesn’t paint the full picture of this dominating performance. The Badgers (2-5, 0-4) only had 144 total yards on offense for the game. For comparison, Ohio State QB Julian Sayin had 169 yards passing in the first quarter alone. The No. 1 Buckeyes (7-0, 4-0) came […]
