Under an August night sky, the Rush Men of Notre Dame will run again. Their real names are Love and Price. They form a tortuous twosome as members of a football juggernaut under which teams are trampled and left battered and bloodied upon the green gridiron.

The No. 6 Irish have won 18 of the games played against the No. 10 Hurricanes.
Jeremiah Love and Jadarian Price form the two-headed Hydra of this potent rushing attack for the Irish. In 2024, the pair combined to rush for over 1,800 yards and score 24 TDs. Both averaged over six yards per rush.
Linebacker Drayk Bowen is the leading returning tackler with 78 stops and three forced fumbles for the national runners-up from a season ago. Bowen is also a team captain.
Cornerback Christian Gray is a leader in the Irish secondary after recording three INTs (one returned for a touchdown), 35 tackles and nine pass breakups.
No doubt that how Carson Beck goes, so go the Hurricanes. The transfer from Georgia was a 3,000-yard passer with 28 TDs in 2024.
In addition to some off-the-field distractions (stolen cars and lost his girlfriend), Beck did not throw in spring practice. So, there is rust buildup on his brittle passing elbow.
I will go with the Miami secondary here, manned by the majority of transfers. Coach Mario Cristobal raided the transfer portal for help to overhaul a defensive unit of liability that in 2024 allowed 214.4 yards per game through the air.
Zechariah Poyser (transfer from Jacksonville State) posted three INTs, 75 tackles and eight pass breakups as an All-Conference USA selection last season.
Can Miami stop the vaunted Notre Dame rushing attack? Can Carson Beck lead the Hurricanes to a Top Ten victory in Week 1? The answers are no to both. Look for the Fighting Irish to spread the Love around and throw a haymaker from 1988, no Hail Mary’s required.
Final Score: Notre Dame 31 – Miami 17
