OSU Passing Offense vs UW Passing Defense
The majority of the analysis is focused on the offensive firepower for the Huskies. That is understandable, as dynamic as they are on that side of the ball. Still, the key is how they slow down the Buckeyes’ passing game. Washington ranks 62nd in the nation in passing defense, giving up 200.3 yards per game, and Ohio State’s backups are all future NFL draft picks.
That Huskies’ secondary will need to show up and play a near-perfect game or give up their Kibbles ‘n Bits because the Buckeyes’ wide receiver room is going to eat. Jeremiah Smith is 11th in the nation, averaging 105 yards receiving per game. He started slow in the opener against Texas, but in the last two games has 272 receiving yards and three touchdowns. The other wide out, just another NFL wide receiver in the making, Carnell Tate, has a touchdown in every game so far this season.
Ohio State Defense vs Demond Williams Jr.
Williams is a difference maker. He caught Urban Meyer’s attention in the Big Ten Network’s Urban Analysis segment. Wow, I hate to say it, Ohio State fans, some of his runs are reminiscent of Braxton Miller. Ohio State defensive coordinator. Matt Patricia and this Ohio State defense got a good warm-up test against Parker Navarro, but Williams is next-level electric.
The Buckeyes passed the test against Navarro, but there’s more to deal with on the Huskies’ offense, particularly RB Jonah Coleman. Coleman has rushed for over 115 yards per game and leads the nation in rushing touchdowns with 9. At wide out, Denzel Boston is a true threat; he has 249 yards and three touchdowns on the season. At 6-foot-4, Boston has the size to snatch the ball out of the air.
The Key to Victory
Ohio State is on its first road game of the season and will need to get settled in early. The Buckeyes will need to throw the ball early and often to establish a rhythm. Day will need to come out with a pass-first mentality and take this crowd out of the game from the first possession. Get Jeremiah Smith and Carnell Tate the ball.
And let’s not forget to let the freshman running back, Bo Jackson, finish off the win. Ohio State has dominated the all-time series, with a record of 9-3 against Washington. Ryan Day is 23-3 on the road as Ohio State’s coach.
ESPN’s matchup predictor gives the Buckeyes a 68.8% chance of winning, and the betting odds are on the Buckeyes. Ohio State opened up as a 14-point favorite but is now -8.5 per Bet MGM. All that’s left to do is end the Washington 22-game home win streak and bring home a W from Husky Stadium.
The Good Northwestern’s Train Rolls On Northwestern is 5–2. That’s not a typo. It’s not a fever dream. It’s not a glitch in the standings. The Wildcats — who started this season under a cloud of low expectations and low preseason rankings — just shut out Purdue 19–0 and now sit one win away from […]

34-0 was the result, but even the shutout score doesn’t paint the full picture of this dominating performance. The Badgers (2-5, 0-4) only had 144 total yards on offense for the game. For comparison, Ohio State QB Julian Sayin had 169 yards passing in the first quarter alone. The No. 1 Buckeyes (7-0, 4-0) came […]
The Buckeyes are hot on the recruiting trail as 2028 5-star defensive lineman Jameer Whyce has committed to Ohio State, according to ON3 Insider Hayes Fawcett. Whyce held offers from 13 other schools, including Maryland, Illinois, and Missouri. Whyce is the No. 5 defensive lineman in the class of 2028. Whyce comes from a family […]
