Ohio State senior linebacker Sonny Styles has been named the “Block O” Recipient for the 2025 season. The Block O is given to the player who has shown leadership and character throughout their Ohio State career. The award is named after the late Bill Willis, a former Ohio State middle guard who is known for breaking the color barrier in the modern football era. Past recipients include Jonathon Cooper, Thayer Munford, Kamryn Babb, Xavier Johnson, and Cody Simon.
The Pickerington Central graduate followed in his father’s footsteps when he committed to the Buckeyes in 2021. Styles was recruited as a safety and played the position for two seasons before making the switch to linebacker this past season. Styles had 100 tackles and 6 sacks in his first full season at linebacker, ending the season as a National Champion.
Styles’ resilience has caught the eyes of coaches and his teammates. His willingness to change positions and do what is best for the team is what the Block O is all about. Styles is going to be counted on as a leader in 2025. The Block O jersey perfectly fits the expectations of Sonny Style to propel his previous success into a new level in 2025.
