34-0 was the result, but even the shutout score doesn’t paint the full picture of this dominating performance. The Badgers (2-5, 0-4) only had 144 total yards on offense for the game. For comparison, Ohio State QB Julian Sayin had 169 yards passing in the first quarter alone. The No. 1 Buckeyes (7-0, 4-0) came out and set the tone through the air.
The homefield advantage did not make a difference, but the Jump Around was felt by all in attendance. It just started early, in the Buckeye end zone. Sayin opened the scoring with a perfectly thrown 33-yard pass, splitting two defenders and placing it where only Carnell Tate could bring it down.
From then on, the jump around continued in the Buckeyes’ end zone. Sayin had four touchdowns through the air. He connected on one more to Tate for 10 yards in the 1st quarter. In the 2nd quarter, Sayin hit Will Kacmarek on a 2-yard floater to the back of the end zone.
Finally, was it nice to see WR Brandon Inniss haul in an 11-yard TD from Sayin? Yes, but just listen to Gary Daniels gush about the throw.
Sayin ended the day 36 of 42 for 393 yards and four TDs. That’s 85.7% for those of you who don’t want to do the math. Sayin is insanely accurate, and just to put that in perspective, that would be the 22nd-best free-throw percentage in the NBA. For the year, Sayin is completing 80% of his passes for 1,872 yards with 19 TDs to only 3 INTs. The Heisman case has started!
