The 12th Man arrived at Kyle Field on Saturday wearing all black. They stood, unwavering, for the duration of the battle that unfolded on the gridiron before them. The roar of the home crowd was deafening.
And in the end, their warrior sons exited the arena victorious. They were conquering heroes, dispatching their opponent with ease. Against Mississippi State, the Aggies of Texas A&M found a rhythm on offense and resurrected the Wrecking Crew-style of defense in a 31-9 victory over the Bulldogs.
Texas A&M quarterback Marcel Reed accounted for three touchdowns, running back Rueben Owens rushed for 142 yards and KC Concepcion gained 118 all-purpose yards and scored two touchdowns.
On defense, the ghosts of the Wrecking Crew from seasons past appeared from the dark tunnel of Kyle Field, ready to strike fear in the Bulldogs. The Aggies posted four sacks, nine tackles for loss, one INT and allowed just one third-down conversion in 10 attempts. In fact, that is just one conversion in the last two games combined.
As a result, the Bulldogs limped back to Starkville with their tail between their legs.
A fast and athletic offense and a bone-crushing defense prowls from sideline to sideline in front of the Aggie faithful. With a force of 108,000 strong, the 12th Man would not be silenced. Their verbal cataclysm helped seal the fate of Mississippi State. The Aggies remain unbeaten in their quest for football glory.
