The Arkansas Razorbacks went through a tough 2025 college football season. Now, though, the storied program looks to Memphis’ head coach to bring it back to prominence.
Arkansas is set to hire Memphis head coach Ryan Silverfield as its new head coach. Bobby Petrino, who took over on an interim basis after Sam Pittman was fired, wasn’t going to come back next season.
Arkansas fans might want to know if Silverfield is a winner. Well, take a look at what he’s accomplished recently at Memphis.
Silverfield, 45, has been at Memphis since 2020. The Tigers have found themselves among the elite Group of Five teams, too. Silverfield has led Memphis to a 29-9 record in the past three seasons.
That’s the type of head coach that Arkansas and its long-suffering fans will be getting in Silverfield.
Want more data around Silverfield? Check this out. Silverfield put together 50-25 overall and 27-21 American Conference records at Memphis. Silverfield also took the Tigers to four bowl victories, the most any individual head coach has won in the college football program’s history.
Silverfield was an assistant coach at Memphis under Mike Norvell. He also has NFL coaching experience as an assistant offensive line coach.
Look for Silverfield to bring what has made him successful at Memphis to his new job at Arkansas. He moves from the American Conference to the always-tough Southeastern Conference.
