Georgia transfer defensive back Dominick Kelly has signed with Ohio State, per Lettermen Row. The Florida native and IMG Academy product was ranked as a top 10 cornerback in the transfer portal. He will have 3 years of eligibility remaining.
Kelly, who was originally a member of the 2026 class, decided to reclassify and join the Georgia Bulldogs early in January of last year. He played one season with the team before entering the transfer portal. Kelly wasted no time in making his decision and now he is a Buckeye. Kelly is the second cornerback commit for Tim Walton in the transfer portal class alongside Cam Calhoun. The Buckeyes now hold 15 commits in the transfer portal and 33 former Buckeyes have now entered the transfer portal.
Kelly did not see much action in 8 games during his freshman season with the Georgia Bulldogs. Despite that, he could be a candidate to start alongside Devin Sanchez and Jermaine Mathews. Alabama transfer cornerback Cam Calhoun is expected to be the first man off the bench along with Myles Lockhart, Jordyn Woods, Jay Timmons, and Jordan Thomas. While young, this group of defensive backs will have to step up and anchor the pass game in hopes of repeating last year’s success under Super Bowl winning defensive coordinator Matt Patricia.
Kelly has garnered a lot of hype over the past couple of days since committing to Ohio State and for good reason. He totaled 17 tackles, 4 interceptions, and 2 passes broke up during his senior season with the prestigious IMG Academy. Kelly also has a background in wrestling and track, registering a 100-meter time of 11.16 seconds. Kelly’s combination of size and athleticism will pay dividends for this Buckeyes defensive unit and it will be exciting to see what he can do when given the opportunity.
