The No. 8 Oregon Ducks (5-1, 2-1) travel to face the Rutgers Scarlet Knights (3-3, 0-3) in an important game for the Ducks. Last week, the Ducks’ wings were clipped by the Indiana Hoosiers, causing them to drop from No. 3 to No. 8 in the country. The Scarlet Knights are still searching for their first Big Ten conference win and will look to beat the Ducks while they are down.

It seems like every week, the Ducks’ quarterback Dante Moore is listed as a key player. When a player has Heisman buzz, that is going to be the case. After a rough loss, Oregon needs Moore to have a big game. If Moore can light it up, hope can be restored for the fan base and national media.
The leaders of this team must go out there and show that the team that played Indiana is not the same team that will be seen for the rest of the year. The offensive line has a lot to prove this week. Moore was sacked 6 times against the Hoosiers. Before that game, he had only been sacked once. Everything the Ducks put on the field last week was uncharacteristic compared to what this team is capable of. Showing up is the key to victory.
Rutgers’ QB Athan Kaliakmanis has been having a solid season. Through 6 games, Kaliakmanis has thrown for 1,785 yards, 11 touchdowns, and three interceptions. He is currently holding his career-high in completion percentage with a 66 percent clip. If Rutgers wants to catch the Ducks lacking, they need their QB to reach that next level. Watch out for Kaliakmanis hunting his favorite wide receivers, Ian Strong and KJ Duff.
Defensively, defensive back Jett Elad has had an outstanding season. Elad has 38 total tackles, 26 solo tackles, and an interception. Off that INT, Elad racked up 21 yards on the return. It is no secret that the Ducks have a great receiving core, and Elad will have to play lights out to stop the Ducks’ explosives.
The Ducks are the far more talented team. This game should not even be close. However, the Ducks have had a trend of playing down to the level of their competition in conference play. This Rutgers team is hungry. They want nothing more than to completely knock the Ducks out. That is not something the Ducks can overlook.
Prediction: Oregon spreads its wings and blows out Rutgers on the road.

The Buckeyes continue to dominate the recruiting trail, this time with 2026 tight end Nick Lautar. The Lebanon, OH, native flipped his commitment from Louisville. Lautar becomes the 27th member of the Ohio State 2026 recruiting class. The Buckeyes place 7th nationally in the recruiting rankings. Lautar is the lone tight end in the class […]

Jeremiah Smith wasn’t dominating defenders as usual; he was dominating the pregame buzz. Listed as questionable, his status sent shockwaves through the Buckeye faithful. Compounding the worries, his counterpart on the other side of the hash marks, Carnell Tate, was held out for a second week in a row. Turned out Smith played sparingly, and […]
