Over the past 16 seasons, Alabama has been victorious over LSU more times than not. The Crimson Tide has won 12 of 15 meetings vs LSU since 2010. That is as one-sided as it gets in college football.
Alabama (7-1) has won seven consecutive games since a 14-point loss at Florida State in week 1. In coach Kalen DeBoer’s second season at the helm, the Crimson Tide looks more and more like the Crimson Tide teams fans have been accustomed to under Nick Saban and Bear Bryant.
It has been a tough bye week for LSU (5-3). In the span of 3-4 days, the Tigers fired head coach Brian Kelly, offensive coordinator Joe Sloan and athletic director Scott Woodward. In the dictionary next to the word dysfunctional, is the photo of beloved mascot Mike the Tiger holding a chewed-up, slobber-covered pigskin in his jaws.
The Tigers are coming off one of the worst ass-whippings ever broadcast on national television. After leading the Texas A&M Aggies 18-14 at halftime, the strength of the LSU team, their defense, gave up 35 points in the second half and suffered a 49-25 destructive defeat at the hands of the undefeated Aggies.
Frank Wilson, associate head coach and running backs coach, will assume head coaching duties for the remainder of the 2025 campaign. Wilson has the respect of the players, and they would run through a wall for him. That is much more than you can say about Wilson’s predecessor.
In the ensuing practice sessions, Wilson has emphasized that, at this point in the season, more than any other, is the time for the team to come together as one team, one family.
After a week of the wrong type of publicity, Wilson and the Tigers are eager to get back on the field and show the college football world the real LSU football Tigers.
Alabama is on a seven-game winning streak. The offense, led by quarterback and first-year starter Ty Simpson, is a top 15 unit in the passing game and has averaged 291 yards per game through the air.
The LSU secondary is a top 20 unit that has picked off ten passes this season.
Simpson has thrown for 2,184 yards, 20 touchdowns and just one INT. He has completed 67.8 percent of his passes and has averaged 8.4 yards per pass attempt. Three receivers have combined for 14 receiving touchdowns, led by Germie Bernard’s 38 catches for 526 yards and six touchdowns.
None of the so-called experts is giving LSU a snowball’s chance in hell of beating Alabama on the road in Bryant-Denny Stadium. But there is an opportunity that could present itself for LSU to surprise the Tide and maybe steal a victory.
Neither team runs the ball well, and on paper, they are about even toting the rock. LSU has rushed for 326 yards and scored one rushing touchdown over the last three games. The Alabama defense, however, has allowed 100+yards in each of the last five games and seven rushing TDs.
If the Tigers can channel their inner-Kevin Faulk and execute a successful rushing attack against a Crimson Tide rushing defense that is ranked 73rd in the FBS, the Tigers might claw their way out of Tuscaloosa with a hard-fought, emotional victory for a team playing for its football salvation.

The SEC is still an interesting race. Texas A&M and Alabama sit at the top of the conference, with each having a 6-0 record in conference play. As things currently sit, these two should be meeting in Atlanta for the SEC Championship. Currently behind those teams are Georgia(6-1), Ole Miss(5-1), Texas(4-1), Vanderbilt(4-2), and Oklahoma(3-2). Three […]

In the electric crucible of college football’s backfields, where every stutter-step and stiff-arm etches a legacy in turf and turf wars, two runners are locked in a symphony of contrasts: Notre Dame’s Jeremiyah Love, the velvet-gloved junior whose 988-yard rampage ranks him No. 5 nationally in total rushing yards, No. 6 in yards per game […]

The No. 8 Notre Dame Fighting Irish (7-2) have a storied history, which includes seven Heisman Trophy winners. However, the last time a Notre Dame player won the prestigious trophy was when Tim Brown won it in 1987. Since the first Irish Heisman winner, Angelo Bertelli, in 1943, the longest Notre Dame has gone without […]
