When Emmett Mosley V transferred from Stanford to Texas before this season, he probably hoped that he could have some type of impact for the Longhorns’ offense.
Well, so far, it’s been pretty good for Mosley.
He’s been able to get open for some key passes from Texas quarterback Arch Manning and has made his presence felt on the field for the 7-2 overall, 4-1 in SEC play, Longhorns.
Texas is No. 13 in the latest Associated Press’ Top 25 poll and is No. 11 in the initial College Football Playoff Rankings.
In five games this season for Texas, Mosley has 15 catches for 201 yards and three touchdowns. His longest reception totals 31 yards. When Mosley can find space downfield, he’s been a solid addition to the receiving corps along with Ryan Wingo and Parker Livingstone.
Mosley, a sophomore transfer out of Chicago, Ill., ranked second at Stanford and led all ACC freshmen with 48 catches for 525 yards and six touchdown receptions. He started in eight games for the Cardinal in the 2024 college football season.
Mosley’s 525 receiving yards were the most for a Stanford true freshman since Richard Sherman’s 581 yards in 2006. In Stanford’s win last season over then-No. 22 Louisville, Mosley had 13 catches for 168 yards and three TDs.
Against San Jose State, in his last game as a freshman at Stanford, Mosley had seven catches for 101 yards and a touchdown.
Texas head coach Steve Sarkisian must be pleased with what he’s seen from Mosley when the sophomore wide receiver is out on the field.
The Longhorns have a bye week before doing battle in Athens, Ga., with the Georgia Bulldogs, who are ranked No. 5 in both the AP Top 25 poll and in the CFP Rankings.
Despite the week off from game action, it doesn’t mean that the team is slacking off. Sarkisian is probably showing his players where things have gone right and things haven’t worked out.
Mosley is going to take notes because he wants to continue performing at a high level with Texas. Look for Mosley to have a solid breakout game before this season is over.
