Class of 2027 EDGE DJ Jacobs has committed to Ohio State, according to 247Sports. Jacobs chose the Buckeyes over Miami and Texas A&M. The Georgia native attends Blessed Trinity Catholic High School. He is the son of David Jacobs, a former Georgia defensive lineman, who played for the Bulldogs from 1999-2002.
Jacobs is ranked as the No. 1 overall recruit in the class of 2027. His junior season was a good one, converting 102 tackles, 16 sacks, 2 forced fumbles, and 24 tackles for loss. The 6-foot-6, 225-pound defensive lineman is a nightmare for opponents. Jacobs presents a rare combination of size, speed, and anticipation that will make him a difference-maker at the college level. He has drawn comparisons to former Georgia Bulldogs star defensive end and first-round pick Travon Walker, who now plays for the Jacksonville Jaguars. In addition to football, Jacobs plays basketball for the Titans.
Long-time Ohio State Defensive Line Coach Larry Johnson extended an offer to Jacobs in April of 2024. He took an unofficial visit to Ohio State in November before announcing his commitment on December 29th. Jacobs told Rivals that Ohio State valued him and made him feel wanted. Jacobs is now the 9th member of the Buckeyes’ 2027 recruiting class. He joins Eli Johnson, Quinton Cypher, and Angelo Smith on the defensive side of the ball.
The Buckeyes’ 2027 class currently ranks No. 1 in the nation. The momentum has shifted, and Ryan Day and his staff are hot on the recruiting trail. After a concerning start to the 2026 class, the Buckeyes picked up momentum in October and into November with commitments from 12 different recruits in that span. That momentum appears to have carried over to the 2027 class, and the Buckeyes will look to finish at the very top of the rankings.
