The Ohio State Buckeyes hot streak continues with a commitment from 2026 3-star offensive lineman Mason Wilhelm.
The Ohio native currently attends St. Edwards High School where he plays right tackle and right guard. Wilhelm brings great size at 6-foot-4, 285-pounds. He is the son of former Ohio State linebacker Matt Wilhelm, who played from 1999-2002.
Wilhelm held offers from other programs such as Pitt, Maryland, Syracuse, and Harvard. The Ohio State legacy committed to the North Carolina Tar Heels in June before decommitting in November. Wilhelm received an offer from Ohio State last night in a phone call with offensive line coach Tyler Bowen.
Wilhelm is the 3rd offensive lineman to choose Ohio State in the past five days, joining Kellen Wymer and Mason Wilt. The Buckeyes 2026 recruiting class holds 23 members including Sam Greer, Max Riley, Tucker Smith, Landry Brede, and Mason Wilhelm on the offensive line. The class currently ranks No. 8 in the nation.
Much of the Buckeyes recent success in recruiting offensive lineman can be attributed to the long list of recent NFL draft picks. Donovan Jackson and Josh Simmons were both selected in the first round of the 2025 NFL Draft, joining Paris Johnson Jr as the second and third Buckeyes offensive linemen to be selected in the first round. That list will look to get even bigger with junior offensive lineman Austin Siereveld, who is projected to get selected in the back end of the first round. Siereveld would become the first draft pick of Tyler Bowen’s Ohio State tenure, highlighting the beginning of great things to come from Bowen in the years ahead.
