2026 3-star defensive lineman Darryus McKinley has flipped his committment from LSU to Ohio State according to ON3 Insider Hayes Fawcett. The Louisiana native had been committed to the Tigers since August. McKinley received an offer from Larry Johnson and Ohio State on October 30th of this year and held offers from 15 other schools.
McKinley becomes the 29th recruit to choose Ohio State in the 2026 class and the 6th defensive lineman in the class. The Buckeyes have had an incredible month of November, picking up 13 recruits on the trail. This recent hot-streak in Columbus positioned the Buckeyes for another strong finish in the 2026 class, currently sit in 6th place in the rankings.
McKinley attends Acadania High School where he finished his senior season with 9.5 sacks, 72 tackles, and 6.5 tackles per game. The 6-foot-3, 270-pound defensive end will fit in nicely with this Buckeyes defense and is seen as an EDGE rusher at the next level. McKinley ranks 3-stars and no. 73 among defensive lineman in the class of 2026.
The Ohio State Buckeyes are among the top schools in the country when it comes to developing NFL talent. The defensive line in particular has produced a long list of draft picks including the Bosa brothers, Cameron Heyward, Mike Hall, and Tyleik Williams. Defensive line coach Larry Johnson has been involved in college football for over 25, spending 18 seasons with the Penn State Nittany Lions and the last decade in Columbus. Johnson has garnered a reputation that makes him a top choice among recruits and continues to standout as one of the best to ever do it.
