Live from Death Valley, it’s Saturday night football. Gridiron warriors soon will emerge from the North tunnel, clad in purple and gold and ready to battle. The cheers and adoration of a passionate and grateful fanbase are deafening. The smell of Louisiana delicacies, jambalaya and boudin, along with a taste of Americana-hotdogs, hamburgers and popcorn permeate the air. It’s time to tee it up in the real Death Valley.

Both teams are coming off Week 1 victories. Louisiana Tech defeated Southeastern Louisiana 24-0 at home in Ruston, La.
The LSU Tigers finally got the monkey off their back and won their first season-opener in six seasons by defeating the No. 4 Clemson Tigers 17-10 on the road at Memorial Stadium in Clemson, SC. As a result of that road victory, LSU rose in this week’s Top 25 poll to No. 3.
LSU leads the series 19-1. The two teams last played in 2018, a 38-21 victory by the Tigers. It’s been 121 long years since La. Tech has beaten LSU on the football field. In 1904, the Bulldogs posted a 6-0 victory over the Tigers.
Quarterback Trey Kukuk completed 74 percent of his throws against Southeastern Louisiana for 130 yards and a touchdown. In addition, Kukuk added 48 yards on the ground.
Running back Clay Thevenin averaged a whopping 10.2 yards per carry (6 for 61 yards).
On defense, the Bulldog trio of Kolbe Fields, Sifa Leota and Mekhi Mason combined for 34 tackles, three sacks and 8.5 tackles for loss in taming the Lions of Southeastern.
QB Garrett Nussmeier looked exactly like one of the top quarterbacks in college football against Clemson. Nussmeier threw for 230 yards and a touchdown.
Running back Caden Durham showed speed and shiftiness as he gained 74 yards rushing and scored a touchdown.
The LSU receivers are talented and fast.
The 2025 LSU defense is athletic and opportunistic. Linebacker Harold Perkins recorded five tackles and a sack.
DB Mansoor Delane recorded at INT. Both stood out for LSU in their Top Ten victory. LSU held Clemson to just 31 yards rushing, leaving them one dimensional for the majority of the game.
Early betting odds have LSU as 37.5-point favorites over La. Tech. LSU will be fired up to play in front of the home crowd in one of the most iconic venues in college football, Tiger Stadium. Look for the Tigers to put on a clinic against the outmatched Bulldogs and cover the spread. Final Score: LSU 45 – La. Tech 3
